    Dear Colleagues,

Apologies for cross-posting.  We want to invite you to a PDW geared towards OB, HR, OT, strategy, and entrepreneurship faculty:

Using Debates on Hot Topics in OB to Engage Students and Develop Critical Thinking
    Professional Development Workshop (Session #131)
    Friday, August 10, 2018
    2:45 – 5:15 pm, Sheraton Grand, Mayfair

Debate is a powerful tool to engage students in research and analysis, enhance empathy, sharpen critical thinking, and develop confidence in presenting and defending opinions. Through a mock debate and an interactive Q&A session, participants will learn and contribute to our knowledge of how to integrate hot topic debates into management education. In the second half of the session, participants will join a small group to develop a specific outline for a debate on a current event of interest (e.g. gender quotas in senior leadership, social protests by employees, consequences at work for private social media posts, #MeToo, capping CEO pay, bro' cultures in technology, the value of business school education, and more). Our invited panelists will share their own best practices in using debates and join us as facilitators for small group work. Participants will leave the session armed with a variety of implementation techniques and session outlines for multiple topics.

This promises to be a lively and useful session and we hope to see you there. Pre-registration is not required.

    Regards,

    Deirdre, Joe, and Virginia
