Who were the mentors in your life?

Think back: who helped to form the person you are today, personally and professionally?  Perhaps it was simply a singular, brilliant insight, some words of wisdom that put you on a particular path.  There may have been more than one individual who served to get you through major academic challenges, or demonstrated a certain life-style made attractive.  Does someone come to mind-please share with us right here-no names, just a brief description.

That is one of the topics we plan to explore-mentors in our own lives.  MSR/MED jointly invite you to explore the concept of mentoring-it's many applications as well as its particular relevance to the academy and professional life.  Our PDW, "Improving Lives by Creating a Culture of Mentoring" (#317), Saturday, August 11, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, at Marriott Chicago Downtown, in Lakeview offers a comprehensive learning experience on the topic of mentoring.  We welcome your participation!

In addition, at our MSR & Friends (#759) event on Sunday, August 12, 4:00 – 5:30, at Marriott/Addison Ballroom we will initiate a conversation among AOM divisions interesting in strategic partnering in areas of common concern, one of which is sharing ideas for mentoring across divisions.  This could be a really exciting and fruitful discussion-come, make it happen!
