Hello!
Have you ever been planning your course, and thought "I wish I had a class activity or experiential exercise for this, but I can't find one online," and then punted and went for a boring lecture instead?
Have you thought about creating your own experiential exercises for your classes, but weren't sure where to start?
Well, if so, we have a PDW for you!! We are hosting a PDW at the AoM Annual Meeting titled "Designing Experiential Classroom Exercises" which will take place from 8:00am to 10:30am on Friday, August 9th in the Sheraton Boston Hotel, Fairfax A & B.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a diverse and highly experienced group of scholars and instructors, including Don Vandewalle, Amanda Hinajosa, Inga Hoever, Howard Klein, Suzanne Masterson, Jeanine Porck, and Elizabeth Umphress. During the course of this PDW, participants will:
- receive an introduction to the creation of experiential exercises
- work with a small group led by a subject matter expert to create a new experiential exercise about a particular subject within OB/HR using a backwards-design framework
- receive feedback on their exercise
- discuss as a group the lessons learned and best practices discovered during the session
- walk away with a new exercise and guidelines for creating additional activities in the future
We welcome you to join us for this PDW, and hope to meet you in Boston! No pre-registration is required. If you have any questions about the PDW, please contact any of our organizers: Melissa Chamberlin (mc6@iastate.edu), Maartje Schouten (maartje@iastate.edu), or Jonathan Miles (jem10@rice.edu).
