You are invited to take part in a research study about doctoral students selecting phenomenology as the appropriate method to conduct their research. The researcher is inviting doctoral students who have already selected phenomenology as their method and are in research phase, or Ph.D.'s who have completed their dissertations within last two years to participate in the study. This invitation appears on social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. This form is part of a process called "informed consent" to allow you to understand this study before deciding whether to take part. Please click here for further instructions to participate in this study.

This study is being conducted by researcher named Dr. Hamid Kazeroony at Walden University.

    Background Information:

The purpose of this agogical phenomenological study is to understand how doctoral researchers arrive at selecting phenomenology as methodology and the reasons.

    Procedures:

If you agree to take part in this study, you will be asked to provide informed consent and complete a demographic form.

It will take 10 minutes to complete the review of the online consent form on PP1-2 and complete the demographic form on Page 3.

Complete the questionnaire of seven open-ended questions on Page 4 and submit responses.

    Here are some sample questions:

    1. How did you hear about phenomenology as a viable methodology for your research and why did you think this method would be appropriate for your research?
    2. At what point in your doctoral work, did you decide to use phenomenology as your research method? Thinking back, why that point in time, you think it was appropriate to make such decision?
    3. Are you aware of any other research methods, if yes please state?

    Voluntary Nature of the Study:

This study is voluntary. You are free to accept or turn down the invitation. The researcher will respect your decision of whether or not you choose to be in the study. If you decide to be in the study now, you can still change your mind later. You can stop at any time.
