The Mid-Atlantic Organizational Behavior Teaching Conference

Invitation to Attend the 2022 MOBTC

"Actualizing DEI in Class: The Opportunity to Make it Happen."

    Venue- ZOOM

    Saturday, April 09, 2022, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

    More on the Theme...

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are important parts of management education.   The presence of difference and the process of fairness have been part of our curriculum for a long time, but our students from undergraduate to doctoral level now expect DEI topics and sensibility in their courses. Our challenge is to design new ways of teaching experientially to support those goals.

MOBTC 2022 will focus on how we actualize DEI in our classes. What learning can we re-engineer? What are some new activities that have come out of your thinking on DEI? What works in all the modalities we now teach? What are the ideas and media that produce effective DEI learning?

We think the 2022 Program has thought-provoking ideas for experiential learning. A sample of the presentations include: "Ensuring LGBTQ+ Inclusivity in the Classroom, Gary Falcone & Carolyn Plump, La Salle Univ.; "Can You Really Use the Movie "Bombshell" in Class?  The Use of Films in a Gender and Diversity Class," Carolyn Gardner, Kutztown Univ.; and "Is Class Participation Over-rated?"  Sambhavi Lakshminarayanan and Simon Best, Medgar Evers College-City Univ. of New York.

There will also be a facilitated panel discussion "Teaching Diversity When You Don't Represent Diversity," with Kerri Anne Crowne, Widener Univ., Sandra Morgan, Univ. of Hartford, and Regina Bento, Univ. of Baltimore.

The $10 registration fee includes all conference access, and we will continue our practice of donating the full amount of that fee to Philabundance (a local food pantry). It is another way of doing well by doing good! We hope you agree.
