ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT LEARNING & EDUCATION PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

    Tuesday, June 4, 2019

Location: Babson College, Babson, MA 02457

Extended abstracts (8-12 pages) due Wednesday May 9, 2019

The editors of Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE) invite applications for a Paper Development & Reviewing Workshop (PDW) to be held at Babson College on June 4, 2019. The purpose of this event is to provide authors with developmental feedback so they can improve papers they intend to submit for review at AMLE. We encourage submissions from faculty members, post-doctoral researchers and doctoral students who want to develop their papers for publication in the journal.

Consistent with the mission of AMLE, extended abstracts can be submitted on all management learning and education topics, using all types of theory, at all levels of analysis, and using all empirical methods. During the workshop, authors will be broken into roundtable groups in which each author will present their work followed by a discussion of the author's work led by at least one of the members of the AMLE editorial team. The intent is for all authors to receive actionable feedback that can then be incorporated into their papers.

In addition to providing authors with developmental feedback, attending scholars will have the opportunity to learn about our forthcoming special issue on learning and education strategies for scholarly impact. As the submission deadline for this special issue is not until May, 2021, this is an opportunity for scholars to get early stage feedback on developing research or an essay for this manuscript.

Those who wish to have their paper reviewed and discussed in a round table workshopping format should submit an extended abstract (between 8-12 pages double spaced including references and tables, figures) by Wednesday May 8, 2019. The abstract should provide a synopsis of the research question, its relevance and significance, a statement relating to the limited ability of extant concepts and/or theory to provide a coherent response to that question, the empirical approach, and the preliminary implications of the findings for theory and practice. For essays, the abstract should focus on the specific idea being developed, the theory that informs the argument, and the key components of the author's call for action. Before you submit your extended abstract please make sure that it is appropriate for AMLE by reading AMLE's Information for Contributors.

If you wish to discuss an idea for the special issue, you can submit a 1-3 page overview of your early stage research question instead of submitting an extended abstract.

There is no fee for attending the workshop. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. We may have places available for those who wish to attend without submitting a working paper. In this instance, please submit your CV by the submission deadline (Wednesday May 9, 2019). Such attendees will be accommodated if there is space on a first come, first served basis.

If you have any questions or inquiries about the workshop, travel, etc., please contact: amle@aom.org or the local host AMLE Associate Editor, Danna Greenberg dgreenberg@babson.edu .
