    Hello!

My name is Dr. Lesly Krome and I am the Chair of the Department of Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology here at St. Mary's University. If you are a business/marketing practitioner considering a graduate degree, I encourage you to consider enrolling in the St. Mary's University graduate program. Here are some reasons why:

    ·         Career Opportunities: I/O Psychology is a field with a high demand for trained professionals as organizations have the resources to hire these workplace specialists. As an I/O psychologist, you can work in a variety of settings, including businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and consulting firms. Different jobs in the field can consist of overseeing talent management, employee training and development, organizational development, marketing project management, human resources, consulting, and research/data analyst (amongst many others).

    ·         Salary Potential: According to the Occupational Information Network (an online database of jobs developed by the U.S. Department of Labor) I/O Psychologists have a bright outlook and faster than average projected job growth. The national median annual salary for I/O psychologists in 2024 was $109,840.00.

    ·         Skill Development: In our I/O Psychology graduate program, you will learn skills that are highly valued by employers. You will develop expertise in areas such as research design, statistical analysis, personnel assessment, training/development, and organizational behavior. You will also learn how to apply these skills to real-world situations, making you a valuable asset to any organization.

    ·         Flexibility: The St. Mary's University graduate program in I/O Psychology offers an accommodating schedule, with classes in the evenings. This can allow you to work while you pursue your degree, making it easier to balance your personal and educational responsibilities. You will have finished all of your coursework within two years.

The I/O Psychology Master's program at St. Mary's University is highly applied. Students take part in consulting projects with outside companies, hold an internship, and are developed through not only theory-based learning, but applied practice which results in speedy employment upon graduation (and for our students often prior to graduation). We also pair our students with a graduated alumni mentor to help them through not only the program but early career development. Because we use a cohort-model, you will create life-long lasting relationships with your colleagues that will support you throughout your career as well as the program.

Requirements and instructions for admission to the St. Mary's University I/O Psychology Master of Science degree can be found here.

Thanks for your time and consideration! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them!

    Sincerely,

    Lesly R. Krome, PhD
