Teaching and Learning Innovations
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
2024-2025
The Teaching Committee (TC) of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the Academy of Management (AOM) invites proposals from individuals for innovative discipline-specific or cross-disciplinary management teaching and learning-related projects. This initiative aims to enhance AOM’s teaching value proposition for current and prospective members, motivated by findings from the 2023 Member Value Proposition survey and the 2024 Teaching and Learning survey, which highlighted a strong desire for a focus on management teaching and learning offerings.
Teaching and Learning Innovations
We seek your most creative ideas for advancing discipline-specific or cross-disciplinary teaching and learning initiatives. Based on insights from recent member surveys, our community has expressed a strong desire for more teaching offerings, especially activities that are conducted outside of the annual meeting. Proposals may address a range of activities or content such as experimental methods, virtual workshops, new teaching technologies, peer learning initiatives, and the development of teaching materials. While proposals may include initiatives associated with the annual meeting, we strongly encourage projects that are not tied to the annual meeting.

Proposal Focus Areas
Individuals are encouraged to design and implement experimental teaching and learning innovation projects relevant to their specific domain, with potential for transfer across other DIGs/IGs. Possible areas of focus include:
- Professional development workshops for teaching specific subject matters in ways that actively engage students, including new topics in disciplines at different levels of learners (undergraduate, graduate, non-degree);
- Career development-related topics and leadership/management training for teaching faculty and department/program chairs (e.g., crucial skills for career advancement, mentoring, career planning);
- Novel applications of teaching approaches and methods utilizing new technologies and digital tools (e.g., AI), including online teaching methods;
- Suggestions/examples for changes in DIG leadership structures, roles, responsibilities, collaborations etc. to better enable and foster teaching-related products and services;
- Curated, up-to-date teaching materials and resources (e.g., case studies, tests, assignments, experiential activities, tools);
- Novel opportunities for networking, peer learning and collaboration around effective teaching practices (e.g., regional conferences, discussion fora);
- New outlets and communication channels for sharing teaching innovations and best practices (e.g., website, webinars, podcasts).
