REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
OBTC Pre-Conference Activities/Workshops
Deadline for submission: November 1, 2008
The Board of Directors of the OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators invites submission of proposals for pre-conference activities/workshops to be held in conjunction with the 2009 OBTC Teaching Conference at the <st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Charleston</st1:placename>, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Charleston</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">SC</st1:state></st1:place>, June 10-13, 2009.
Pre-conference activities/workshops may be scheduled to begin no earlier than Monday, June 8* and conclude no later than 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10th.
All proposals should include the following:
1. A clear description of the purpose of the activity/workshop, what will occur, and a preliminary schedule.
2. An explanation of the way in which the proposed activity/workshop fits the mission of OBTS.
3. Designation of one contact person for proposal communications and an indication of who will be in charge on site, if different.
4. Delineation of all resources and/or logistical arrangements necessary to support the activity (meeting rooms, housing, meals, etc.)
5. A budget indicating projected expenses and proposed fee structure.**
6. The minimum and maximum number of participants for a successful activity/workshop.
7. Any possible liabilities to the Society or conference site and ways to address these liabilities.
8. An acknowledgement that all pre-conference attendees will be required to register for the OBTC Teaching Conference and that all fees for the pre-conference activity/workshop will be collected by OBTS at the time of conference registration.
Please send proposals via electronic mail to President@obts.org. The Society's Executive Committee, in consultation with the OBTC Site and Program Coordinators, will evaluate proposals based on the above information and facilities available. Pre-conference proposal submitters will be notified no later than January 15, 2009.
* Participants may request conference site housing as of Sunday night, June 7, but no activity/workshop may begin before Monday morning.
** If accepted, all budgeted expenses will be paid by OBTS directly to providers upon invoice. The proposal should include an indication of which expenses will be born by attendees directly (extra nights housing, for example) and which by the pre-conference fee structure.
