Assistant/Associate Faculty Position
In Strategic Management of Communication/Information Resources
The J. Warren McClure School of Communication Systems Management continues
to seek applicants for a newly created tenuretrack assistant/associate
professor position in the strategic management of communication
technologies and information networks. (Rank and salary dependent upon
qualifications.)
This nationally recognized undergraduate program, established in 1981,
approaches the design and management of communication technologies and
information networks from a multifaceted perspective. The study of
technology is combined with the examination of policy issues, strategic
concerns, and social implications. Final approval for a Master's degree
program is pending.
Candidates for this position should be prepared to teach, and pursue
research in, the strategic management of existing and emerging
communication and information technologies, network systems, communication
services, and applications of communication and information technologies.
Candidates should be qualified to teach a graduate level research methods
course, as well as both undergraduate and graduate courses in the
management of communication and information resources. We are particularly
interested in applicants who combine an understanding of the technical
underpinnings of these technologies with the ability to address the
strategic, societal, and policy issues involved in their deployment.
We seek applicants with a Ph.D. (in hand or near completion) in a pertinent
area (strategic management, management information systems, communication,
telecommunications, economics). Teaching experience, especially at the
graduate level, is a plus. We are particularly interested in candidates who
combine academic preparation with industry experience. The desired
starting date is September 1, 2001. To assure consideration, applications
should be submitted on or before December 15, 2000. The process will remain
open until a candidate is selected. Send letters of application, vitae, a
recent scholarly writing sample, and have three letters of reference sent
to Dr. Phyllis Bernt, Search Chair, J. Warren McClure School of
Communication Systems Management, Room 197, 9 S. College Street, Athens, OH
45701.
