(With apologies for cross-posting...)
Dear Colleague,
I am writing to offer the students in your doctoral program a unique and exciting professional development opportunity. The OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators hosts a Doctoral Institute each year, prior to the OBTC Teaching Conference for Management Educators, and we would like to encourage your students to apply for a competitive scholarship to attend.
The mission of the OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators is to enhance the quality and promote the importance of teaching and learning across the management disciplines. We understand the investment you make in preparing your students to be excellent scholars, and we want to help you prepare them to be exceptional teachers as well.
The OBTC Doctoral Institute is a one-day, pre-conference workshop dedicated to providing promising new teacher-scholars from research-oriented doctoral programs with professional development in the area of teaching excellence. Doctoral Institute participants will experience close interpersonal interaction with prominent management scholars who have been successful in balancing the demands of teaching, research, service, and personal life.
The 2015 OBTC Doctoral Institute will be held at the University of La Verne in La Verne, California. The Doctoral Institute will begin on Tuesday afternoon, June 16, and will end prior to the start of the OBTC on the evening of June 17. We encourage students to attend the OBTC as well, which will conclude on Saturday afternoon, June 20.
Full scholarships with travel assistance will be offered. Scholarship recipients will receive the following:
· Registration for the one-day Doctoral Institute and the following four-day Teaching Conference
· $200 in travel assistance
· All meals, dormitory housing, and social activities for the Doctoral Institute and the Teaching Conference
· Membership in OBTS for one year
· A one-year subscription to the award-winning Journal of Management Education
· Presentation opportunity – as part of the Doctoral Institute, participants will jointly prepare a conference presentation to be delivered by the group on Saturday of the Teaching Conference.
Please forward the attached flyer to your students and encourage them to apply for a competitive scholarship by March 31. For more information about the Doctoral Institute and the Doctoral Institute Scholarship, please visit http://obts.org/content/doctoral-institute or contact Erika Small at di@obtc.org. We look forward to assisting in the professional development of your doctoral students!
