Dear MED Colleagues
The Academy of Management is a network - a network of networks -
members, interested non-members, students, colleagues, friends,
families, partners, practitioners, publishers, exhibitors, and many
others. For 2002, "Art and Poetry" seeks to elicit other aspects of
the Academy's network through individual and collaborative
submissions from all sectors, members and non-members alike. We
encourage creativity that may link to divisional contexts as well as
an All-Academy focus. And while the theme "Building Effective
Networks" provides a rich context for expression, do not be
constrained to thematic submissions alone. We encourage submissions
that show the innovative, creative, and expressive aspects of the
Academy network - from the traditional to the truly avant-garde
After the events of September 11,2001 Jean Bartunek, President of the
Academy, conveyed the message that "The Academy Cares." We wish to
add this theme to Art and Poetry and invite submissions that express
that caring through art and/or poetry.
Art and Poetry submissions may take one or more of, though not
limited to, the following forms: (a) 2-D - photography, painting,
collage, and drawing; (b) 3-D - ceramics, sculpture, woodworking,
glass, stone; (c) Textiles - weaving, tapestry; and (d) Creative
writing - poetry from haiku to free verse, scripts of short plays.
