An MED/OB jointly sponsored professional development workshop at the
Academy of Management Meeting

This workshop is open to all, pre-registration is not necessary. We are
designing the workshop to be of value to the novice as well as the more
seasoned professional. We want the session to be interactive and to
generate different ideas on how to improve the quality of the learning
experience for various types of teaching environments. The session will
focus on two major components - design and delivery as two important
phases of providing an educational experience that ensures relevance,
involvement by the participants, and ends with superior learning.
Some of the topics we will be covering include:
- Course Design: Syllabus design; Lecture design; Making assignments
worth doing;
Assessing relevant and superior learning
- Course Delivery: Tools and Techniques used during the class; Web and
Internet usage; Class dynamics- keeping the troops engaged; Strategies
for providing feedback - encouraging but correcting
