The University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications and
nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Management
About the University: UCF is a comprehensive metropolitan university that
currently enrolls over 30,000 students on its three campuses and is among
the fastest growing universities in the country.
About Our College: With some 6,700 undergraduate and 700 graduate students
enrolled, the UCF College of Business Administration is one of the largest
AACSB accredited business colleges in the nation. In addition to an MBA,
the college offers a Ph.D. in Business Administration with tracks in
Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing as well
as masters degrees in Management, Economics, Accounting, and Taxation.
About the Management Department: The Department of Management has 24
full-time faculty and 12 part-time instructors/adjuncts with diverse
research and teaching interests. The Department offers an undergraduate
Management major, with concentrations in General Management and Human
Resource Management. The Department is also currently developing a new
undergraduate concentration in Entrepreneurship.
About Our Community: Orlando is one of the nation's most dynamic, diverse,
and rapidly growing metropolitan areas. It is home to numerous cultural
activities, major and minor league sports franchises, a wide variety of
outdoor recreation activities, and countless theme parks and entertainment
venues. Orlando is well positioned near the Space Coast in the center of
the high-tech Interstate 4 corridor that extends from Tampa through
Orlando, to Daytona.

Application Process: Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in
Management or related field, and a research, teaching, and service record
meriting tenure and rank as a Professor at UCF. Associate Professors who
would merit the rank of Professor are encouraged to apply. Consideration
of applicants will begin November 1, 2001 but will be accepted until the
position is filled. Preference will be given to candidates who meet the
minimum qualifications and who also demonstrate: (1) excellent
communications and interpersonal skills; (2) continuing commitment to
excellence in research, teaching and professional service; (3) demonstrated
leadership and administrative abilities; (4) the ability to effectively
represent the department to external constituencies; and (5) commitment to
curriculum planning, development and improvement. Applicants should submit
a curriculum vita, a narrative statement that addresses the minimum and
preferred qualifications stated above, and the names, addresses, and
