Position Announcement in Strategy and Entrepreneurship
Frank Sawyer School of Management, Suffolk University, Boston, MA
We invite applications for a tenure track position (Assistant or Associate
Professor of Management, depending upon qualifications) in the Management
Department, with a primary focus in Strategic Management and secondary
interests in Entrepreneurship and and International Management. Those who
will have completed or will be close to completing their Ph.D. by Fall
2002 are invited to apply.
We are looking for a high-energy self-motivator to make valuable
contributions to our strategy and entrepreneurship programs. This academic
position places equal emphasis on teaching and research and expects
excellence in both domains. Teaching can be at the graduate an/or
undergraduate level (based upon experience) in such courses as the capstone
strategic management course, introduction to entrepreneurship, new venture
creation, small business management, or other entrepreneurship or strategy
electives the new faculty member may wish to add to our growing curriculum.
Previous publications are highly desireable but not necessary. However,
demonstrated scholarly potential is required. Previous business or
governmental experience is highly desirable to impart practical as well as
theory-based wisdom to our students.
Suffolk University, a private university in the corporate, financial, and
government center of Boston, is comprised of the Sawyer School of
Management (SSOM), the Law School, the College of Arts and Sciences, and

MBA, and specialized Masters programs to a diverse population of
approximately 2,200 full-time and part-time students. Our domestic programs
of study are offered at both our downtown Boston campus and at satellite
facilities. Our faculty is highly engaged in both entrepreneurial and
international program activities. Internationally, we have alliances with
overseas institutions in Europe, China, and Africa. Moreover, 25% of our
Boston students are international in their homes of origin. A recent
initiative is the first on-line MBA in New England. The school is
accredited by the AACSB and NASPAA. The management department is also the
home of the Entrepreneurial Studies program, offering undergraduate, MBA
and post-MBA specialized programs of entrepreneurial study. In addition, we
have a business incubator for entrepreneurial student ventures. A
significant proportion of our MBA in Entrepreneurship program majors are
also international students interested in applying entrepreneurial business
practices in their home countries.
Preliminary interviews will be scheduled at the Academy of Management
