Salisbury State University (SSU) invites applications and nominations for
the position of Dean of the Perdue School of Business. The appointment will
be effective on July 1, 2001.
About the Perdue School: The Perdue School was established in 1986 through
an endowment providing ongoing scholarships for students and funds for
faculty development. One of four schools in the University, the Perdue
School is comprised of four Departments: Accounting and Legal Studies,
Economics and Finance, Information and Decision Sciences, and Marketing and
Management. With 35 full time faculty and over 1200 declared majors, the
Perdue School offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Business
Administration (with concentrations available in Finance, Management,
Marketing Management, Economics, and International Business) Economics, and
Management Information Systems. The Perdue School also offers a Master of
Business Administration degree. Both undergraduate and graduate programs
are accredited by the AACSB.
About the University: Founded in 1925, Salisbury State University is a
regional, comprehensive institution, one of 13 that comprise the University
System of Maryland. SSU is located on Maryland's scenic Lower Eastern
Shore, close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay, and 2-3 hours from the
metropolitan areas of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Norfolk. SSU
offers 30 undergraduate majors and master's programs in the liberal arts,
science and technology, education, nursing, and the business disciplines.
SSU's four schools are endowed: the Perdue School of Business, the Henson
School of Science and Technology, the Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and the
Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies. SSU has been cited

Responsibilities: The Dean is the chief academic, administrative, and
financial officer of the School, reports to the Provost, and is responsible
for academic policy and curriculum, faculty and staff supervision and
development, budget planning and execution, and fundraising. The Dean will
lead the business school faculty and staff, and work collaboratively with
the other academic deans, the deans of the library and enrollment
management, and the chief information officer, as well as other campus
leaders. Our new Dean will work with faculty, students, alumni and donors
to promote excellence in the academic programs of the Perdue School; build
partnerships with institutions, businesses, and individuals regionally,
nationally, and internationally; enhance the diversity of the faculty and
student body; integrate information and instructional technology for
academic programs and community outreach activities; and engage in
successful grant acquisition.
Qualifications: We seek a leader with a demonstrated record of performance
and leadership in academia. Additional experience in business or government
will be considered a plus. The position requires strong interpersonal
communication skills. The successful candidate's qualifications should
include an earned doctorate in one of the disciplines represented in the
Perdue School and a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and
administrative experience in higher education meriting the rank of professor
in one of the School's departments. AACSB accreditation/re-accreditation
experience is essential and proven track records in fundraising and
international collaborations are highly desirable.
