    The Academy of Management's Management Education and Development Division
    (affiliated with Mg-Ed-Dv) values its strategic alliance with the MCB
    University Press JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT, which sponsors the AOM
    MED Division's Best paper in Management Development Award. This is an
    excellent journal that I have published in and which I strongly urge you to
    investigate. Below is very interesting opportunities offered by MCB.

    MCB University Press is proud to offer the "Training and Development
    Internet Research Register" to subscribers and the research community at
    large.

    The Training & Development Internet Research Register
    (http://www.mcbup.com/research_registers/tdev/sponsors.asp) will report on
    current and recently completed research in this field, on an international
    level. Research may be linked to an academic course of study or project, be
    independent, or organisation-based R&D. The register aims to be
    comprehensive in its geographic and subject coverage. It seeks to maintain a
    sound balance between theory and practice and entries which report on
    applied research are particularly welcome.

    It includes, but is not restricted to the following areas:

    * employee education,
    * vocational education and training,
    * economics of training,
    * university-industry partnerships,
    * training management,
    * management education and development,
    * career management and international careers.

    The Register is co-ordinated by the Centre for Labour Market Studies at
    Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK, under the guidance of Professor
    Thomas Lange.
    It provides the research community with pre-publication information and the
    potential for further networking, alongside early information on new areas
    for application and development in the field. It also allows the researcher
    to:

    * Identify types of research already under way, e.g. theoretical, applied
    research, case study
    * Identify areas where further research is needed
    * Ensure a new project is not duplicating research already under way
    * Identify possible sources of funding for research
    * Identify possible research methodologies
    * Identify peers for collaborative research projects
    * Track the history of research in a subject area
    * Establish yourself within the research community
    It will also be of use to research supervisors, teachers, consultants and
    practitioners

    From Professor Lange:

    This Research Register is important in many ways. At a time when research
    on training and related issues has grown in importance, the market for
    relevant research has also become much more complex. While there has been a
    growth in the volume and sophistication of relevant research literature,
    this has not been matched by a parallel growth in empirical awareness of
    information in the market.

    Such comprehensive labour market information is vital if researchers,
    consultants, government departments, education providers and employers are
    to understand fully how labour market processes operate. This understanding
    becomes critical when policies and research activities in the areas of
    training, education, work and enterprise are being discussed.

    As part of its commitment to the dissemination of information, MCB
    University Press provide this online forum for the circulation of
    pre-publication information on research in elected subject areas. The
    registers add value to the information resources MCB already provide which
    comprise journals, abstracts of wider literature, online and CD-ROM
    databases, online information services for communities of interest, virtual
    conferencing, and automation of the peer-review process. All these elements
    of the MCB University Press service help to bridge the gap between theory
    and practice in research activity and improve the process of scholarly
    communication. For information about MCB and our services, please go to
