    >Analysing Performance Measurement Systems from a Functional Design
    Perspective

Presents an analysis tool which is based on the PSDA: a PMS design tool for
R&D environments. Based on the functions of a particular PMS - the purpose
for which performance is measured- the tool evaluates whether this PMS
meets the specific requirements of these functions as established in the
PSDA. Applying the tool to evaluate PMSs in a production and sales
environment provided valuable insights into the causes of
    measurement-related performance problems.

When Fujitsu introduced one of the Japanese corporate world's first

    >Getting Rid of Reviews: Exceeds Expectations

    >Multifaceted Conception of Self-Other Ratings Disagreement

More and more companies, including almost all Fortune 500 firms, are using
multirater or 360-degree appraisals of manager performance, with an
objective to using useful feedback from multiple raters to guide the
personal development of ratees. In all 360-degree appraisal programs, there
is some amount of disagreement among sources, and thus a critical aspect of
all such programs is identifying and dealing with such disagreement. This
research paper identifies the possible types of disagreement and how to
deal with them. Personnel Psychology, April 1999.

    >The New Thinking in Performance Appraisals

Annual performance appraisals are falling out of favor with HR
professionals. Instead, companies are turning to a process of ongoing
