We have seen a similar financial crisis for the Catholic Church in our region,
so there may be some other examples on which to draw, for better or worse.
My personal thoughts is apt to be a bit radical. Consider posting a notice
that half of the assets (church buildings, property) will be sold to the Roman
Catholic Church to raise capital to continue funding the remaining half. My
reading of English history suggest that this will get some heads out of the
sand. Of course, it would be more modern to simply propose a joint venture,
selling half the assets to the Rome Church and then holding alternate services
(dawn services Roman, 8am Anglican, etc.). The hyper-modern solution is to put
the assets up for auction on eBay and simply sell them off to the highest
bidder. Simply ask the congregation to help prioritize which assets get sold
first.
