Representative to the Academy of Management Council!!

The MED Nominating Committee invites you to nominate yourself or another for a 2
year term to the Academy of Management post described below. We have collected
some nominations and are finishing up the process. Please send a 150 word bio and

candidates to run for the post through a website election in late March and April
    by MED members.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

The MED Division Representative of the Academy of Management Council, along
with other members of the Council (some representing other divisions, some
representing regional Academy associations, and other Academy constituencies),
helps advise the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management on specific
issues and initiatives that the Board is considering. Some of the work of the
Council is initiated by the Board some is initiated within the Council itself.
Several additional activities consistent with the broad domain of the Council
include conducting periodic member focus groups to gather information on current
and potential programs and services and proposing new
initiatives that better serve member needs. Although Council representatives are
chosen by constituency to assure broad representation, they are expected to put
Academy needs above individual division needs.

The MED Council Representative is required to commit to a two year term (August -
July), and should attend yearly meetings in August (in conjunction with the
Academy of Management meeting). Representatives are also expected to participate
fully in Council communications and activities held electronically throughout the
year. Finally, representatives are expected to disseminate appropriate information
regarding Council activities to MED members (e.g., through MED's newsletter,
    electronic discussion group
Mg-Ed-Dv@maelstrom.stjohns.edu and the MED website www.aom.pace.edu/MED), as
well as receive communications and feedback from MED officers and other members

    Academy of Management

Commitment to serve entire elected term

Ability to attend Council meetings in August of each term year.
(If distance and/or funding precludes attendance for particular meetings,
arrangement for a substitute for that meeting can be made in consultation with the
    divisional chair).

feedback from, AOM MED officers and other members.

    PREFERRED CRITERIA

Prior experience in MED and with its issues/activities within the Academy and
prior experience in an Academy leadership capacity.

    ELECTION PROCESS

Nomination process: MED members can be nominated by others or themselves. If
a MED member is nominated by someone other than themselves, the MED
Nominating Committee (see MED Constitution for details of its membership
etc.: http://www.aom.pace.edu/med/constitution.htm ) will contact the
member, request information such as prior involvement in MED and anything
    else they want to say.

The Nominating Committee will determine a slate of 2 candidates for the MED
membership to vote on via a website ballot. This will be presented in the March
MED Newsletter which is available via e-mail to all MED members and online through
a link to the MED website mentioned above. The voting website will remain open
for the second half of March and all of April. Any questions about any aspect of
the election process will be gladly answered by the MED Nominating Committee
chaired by Bill Ferris, who can be reached off list at: bferris@wnec.edu.
