Making Connections, Making a Difference: Engaging Business with Academic Work

Please plan to attend the Midwest Academy of Management's 59th conference in Fargo, North Dakota. We welcome your papers (research/teaching/practice), case-related work, and proposals for symposia, panels, and professional development workshops to this 2016 event.  A doctoral consortium will be on Thursday October 6th.

The conference theme, "Making Connections, Making a Difference: Engaging Business with Academic Work", is inspired by a series of interviews with business/civic leaders.  From the interviews, two issues emerged: (1) businesses are concerned with talent and transitions, which entail tensions between individuals and organizations, and between continuity and change, and (2) a potential solution to such concerns lies in better connections between business and academia. We welcome your scholarly and creative work that fits this theme, and invite your work that is outside of the conference theme to submit to one of the conference topical tracks (please see below).

    Conference Highlights

    -          Distinguished Speaker Series – Infusing presentations from invited notable scholars throughout the conference events. Don't miss this!

    -          Microsoft Fargo Campus Experience(Friday Oct. 7) – Visiting the second largest Microsoft Campus in North America, located in Fargo.  There, we will have a reception and social event in which business representatives from different sectors in the area, such as healthcare, service, manufacturing, high-tech startups, and non-profits, are invited to meet with our conference attendees.  It is a "must-go" event!

    -          Professional Development Workshops– Offering tips and tools on research methodology, teaching, and managerial practices. Check this out!
