You raise some good points. I think the program eval does provide some
useful info for the incoming program chair in terms of which sessions and
topics attracted the biggesst audience. I also sent copies of the evals to
sessions chairs in the hopes they would share the feedback with the
presenters so as to help them improve both their presentations skills and
provide feedback for rewriting the papers for journals. I also think that
the idea you and Terry had to provide "instant" feedback with the tear-off
sheet was a neat innovation. Maybe it is time to ask ourselves why we do
program eval, and what info we want from it.
