I take it that this list is in its formation stage. I trust that it will
survive the other stages and quickly reach the perfoming stage without a
    great deal of strife.

In order to aid the process, I will introduce myself as a visiting
instructor in Communication. My interests in are rhetoric, leadership,
and change within organizations. I believe that my ability to ask
provocative questions and "listen" to the contributions from list's
members is likely to be my contribution to the listserv's membership.

I've just joined the List in my role as facilitator for a group of
industrial managers in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region. Purpose of
the group is to learn best practices from each other, and that means
that they first must learn a common framework of qualtiy management
concepts. I guess it amounts to developing a learning organization on a
    large scale.

Most of the managers are eager to learn but not to be taught. They like
having a structured frame of reference to discuss issues of
productivity, but have no time for lengthly curriculums and seminars.
The feedback loop of value for what we do is extremely short. I conduct
monthly workshops as a means of presenting ideas in a live setting, and
then distribute the discussion material as notes via email or fax. We
have a web site to collect all of the material and hopefully develop
into a tool for discussion among participants.

Anyone wishing to benchmark productivity issues or join our discussions
    is welcome.
