A compelling vision is in need of no interpretation at any level of the
organization. I think oftentimes business misinterprets the differences
between vision, mission, and strategy.
The vision is the raison d'etre for the organization. Vision is the
overarching and underlying reason for an organization to exist, survive
and thrive in the marketplace. A vision statment is poetic not poetry
(there is a difference) and an attempt to codify the abstract. The more
concrete the vision becomes the more constrained it will be resulting in
less chance for its successful use by the organization.
Vision culled from metalanguage.
