You're missing a lot ! There are different formats for video tapes. In
Europe most used are British PAL system and French SECAM system. Of course,
the Russians are using their own version of SECAM. None of these systems is
compatible to one another or to American NTSC.
For your information, here's the use of the systems in different East and
Central European countries:
Poland - PAL
Cehia + Slovacia - SECAM
Hungary - PAL
Romania - PAL
Bulgaria - SECAM
The bright side of the problem is that nowadays most video equipment (that
means video + monitor) should be able to read all standards.
So, the conclusion is that you have to check the video equipment before
using the video tapes.
