Apparently the command "DIGESTS" is not recognized on this listserv. Can
someone confirm for me that it is, or isn't, possible to receive mail in
digest form here. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to Don Austin for inquiring about a digest. I too would like to
know if a digest of this list is available rather than the individual
message format currently being used. Thanks for any input on this
    mattter.
    All the best,
    John

I was going to reply directly to this, but, on seeing a second request
for the same info, decided to post this to the list, as others might
want it also. I got this list be send the INFO message mentioned in
the welcome letter from the list.

    Send to

    listserv@maelstrom.stjohns.edu

    a mail message that says

    SET MG-ED-DV Digest

The following is reproduced from the welcome message one receives from the
    list. Hope it helps.

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a
list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX MG-ED-DV"
command to LISTSERV@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU. You can then order these files
with a "GET MG-ED-DV LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database
search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information
    on the latter.

This list is available in digest form. If you wish to receive the
digested version of the postings, just issue a SET MG-ED-DV DIGEST
    command.

More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV
reference card, which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO REFCARD"
    command to LISTSERV@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU.

In case you did not know you can do something similar with outlook express.

If you are using outlook express, then you can click on one the messages
coming from this listserve, choose the Message Menu and then the create
message rule and then make check the to box and the move action box. Where
it indicates the need for a specified to addressee..put in MG-ED-
DV@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU. In the move to you should have created a folder
for St Johns....and then you put that in the move to ....... blank. Then at
least all the messages from this list will go to that folder and not fill up
you normal inbox. then when you click on that folder...you almost have a
summary from the subjects of messages listed in that folder.

You can also make a rule for all you outgoing messages related to this
listserve address so that they will automatically be filed in that folder
and not fill up your sent box.

If you already know this, then disregard.

    Good luck
