I am trying to locate a data gathering site. The focus of the study is
learning achievement; comparing individual's who prefer an individual
learning environment to individual's who prefer working within a group
learning environment.
Using the LSI (a standardized instrument which indicates preference for
individual vs group learning environments) individuals would be placed in an
environment which matched their preference. A pre-test and post-test would
be used to compare the learning achievement.
An extensive literature search provides the following information:
1. There does not appear to be any difference between individual vs group
learning. (None of the research has controlled for individual preference in
learning environment.)
2. Groups of three appear to maximize learning achievement.
3. In follow-up studies, individuals that learned in groups appear to
retain the information for a longer time.
The results of the study should be of interest to educators in both the
academic world and the business world. Any interest in this study is
appreciated. Please contact Bill Ison @ voice: 817 927-5977 or E-mail
