Why don't we just notice that BSchools turn out MBAdministration. In this
light they are doing a fairly good job. But we need more than
Administrators. Can you tell our recruiters which schools turn out
    MBManagement or MBLeadership?

Excellent point. MBA means "Master of Business Administration"
and it does not mean "Master of Behavioral Attainment."

Well, many MBAs are turned out each year, but then again
there are millions of businesses who need them.

Yes, and that is the job of the hiring manager--to identify
which MBA's have the leadership or other traits that are
necessary for achieving success on the job.

MBA schools turn out all three. If we want to identify
the best MBAs to hire we need to know what it is we want
to hire and then identify which applicants come the
    closest to what we want.

    Jack,
I wished I could answer your question. Leadership and
communication is one of my special interests areas, but there are very few
graduate programs in leadership--unless you are into educational
leadership--where there a great many programs and classes. However, these
are mostly designed for K-12 principals or superintendants in the Dept. of
Education. I only have to look at the product I get for students to know
that they are probably not teaching leadership in these programs, either.

I thought the list might be interested in this program. I have
mentioned this school once before but I thought I would do it again.

Saint Michael's College (Burlington, VT) offers a Master's of Science in
Administration. They have recently changed its focus to leadership by
requiring two semesters of Leadership study. Included in these capstone
courses is the production of a portfolio (thesis no longer required).
This body of work begins with a review of personal and program goals and
then followed by documentation of goal attainment throughout the
    program.

The classes are a combination of simulations, group projects, reflective
papers/discussions, personality/behavior assessments, and peer review
groups. The courses are team taught by three professors with
backgrounds in OB, Strategic Management, and Psych.

The courses have run into some difficulty in that some students get
frustrated with the lack of guidance. These students are still in the
mind set that they must have structure and be told what to learn (as
discussed by this list once before).

The program is 3 years old and still needs to work out some bugs.
The MSA, however, is one example of a program that is attempting to
implement leadership as its core focus.

FYI: it is not accredited by AACSB yet and is primarily set up for
    part-time
students with at least five years of experience.
