Dear fellow list-members;
After reading Rey Carr's comments about the use of Peer Review I
thought I would share with you some of our research findings -
We used/use peer review, at Loughborough University Business School (my
previouspost), as part of the process by which first year
undergraduate students group work outside the tutorials is input into the assessment. The peer
review process involves the students setting their own criteria for the peer review. (The criteria set
were Input, Preparation, Share, Teamwork). The final grade is still awarded by the
lecturer - the peer review marks adjust the group presentation grade to give an individual
grade.
We found that ownership of the peer review criteria was fundamentally
important to the success of this process.
Our two year study is documented in;
Pond, K; Wade, W; ul-Haq, R; Peer Review :a Precursor to Peer
Assessment, in Innovations in Education and Training International,
Vol:32, No:4, November 1995, pp314-323
Hope this is of some use to you. Best wishes.
