Guest speaker and thinkers: Geoffrey Lloyd - "The professor of good ideas"
Geoffrey Lloyd is Research Fellow and Director of the Suggestion Programs
Research Unit at the University of Wales. He will discuss current trends
and European research into the management of creativity and innovation in
the workplace. Previous to his appointment as chair of innovation,
he was employed by British Gas plc for over thirty five years.
Starting as an apprentice Gas-fitter in 1961, he eventually held senior
positions in corporate planning, customer service operations, marketing,
industrial relations and District management. In 1991 he was appointed
Suggestion Scheme Manager with global responsibility at British Gas. He is
the immediate past-chairman and Honorary Fellow of the United Kingdom
Association of Suggestion Schemes. He was also seconded to Government
Employment Service as Manager of a Job club for helping the long-term
unemployed find work. He is co-author of "Suggestion Schemes-The Management
Tool of the 90's", and has published numerous articles on creativity,
innovation and employee involvement. He is currently finishing his PhD
on the "Motivational Aspects of Employee Suggestion Schemes."
