I have used Fortune and Business Week in the past. Business Week,
it seems to me, covers more stories while Fortune covers them fewer
stories in a bit more depth. Fast Company offers a different look at
management and I use examples from it in my classes (both Policy and
the general management course) to let students know there are
different perspectives.
I have found students resistant to subscribing to any publication
unless it is mandated. I like the idea that someone provided of
requiring short presentations - haven't used it but will. What I
have done in the past is put questions from Fortune articles on
examinations after announcing an article or two from which questions
would be chosen.
I do not have students subscribe to publications such as the Harvard
Business Review but do pull articles from them to put on reserve in
the library.
