    Hello Everyone:

I am looking for information on Chat Rooms and how you use them for curricular
purposes. I am interested in all disciplines including Accounting and Finance.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Chat is a particularly effective tool for online instructional purposes.
It may be used for tutoring or questioning between student and teacher, or
it may be used for discussion purposes among students. Either is a good
    use of chat.

We have experimented with Microsoft's NetMeeting (free via download from
Microsoft) and it works extremely well for us. This software allows one to
establish a private chat collaboration. Users with no sound card may use a
chat feature for text only communication. All users may use a whiteboard
for illustrations and pictures. Users may send files to one another. And
sound via microphone input and video may be incorporated.

One drawback to sound and video is that it may only be used between two
users currently. And, this software currently only runs on the PC. My bet
is, however, that we will see a MAC version soon.
