Several empirical studies have been conducted measuring the impact of
management practices and systems on the bottom line. Working in the steel
industry I am familiar with work that Casey Ichniowski (Columbia College)
and Kathryn Shaw (Carnegie-Mellon University) have completed in the steel
industry. The Department of Labor also has this type of information.
