I am currently working with management to implement a new selection
program. There is considerable interest in teams and teaming.

Can anyone recommend good instruments that may help measure
individual-team fit, 'team playerness', or similar constructs?
Also, I would be interested in any assessment center exercises
that may tap relevant or related dimensions.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Barry.

Regarding your request specifically related to team playerness I'd like to
recommend a few of the Carlson Learning Company Profiles. These are
reliable, valid and proven self-assess instruments which have Faciliators
Kits: workshop agendas/activities, transparency masters, research reports.
A time saver and one-stop resource.

We believe that instrumented learning is one of the most effective ways to
get people from being passive listeners to engaged learners for individual
and organizational results. Our instruments are easy to use.

Briefly here are the 3 I would recommend. Any one or all of them could tap
the relevant dimemsions you may want to help people discover. First, the
most reknown is the Personal Profile System. Some people refer to it as
DiSC. This gives people self-understanding first and then insights into
others second. A second one is designed to answer the question - How can I
maximize every individuals contribution to the team process? It identifies
an individuals most natural team role: Creator, Advancer, Refiner or
Executor. This one's title is Innovate with CARE. And third is the
Discovering Diversity Profile which explores diversity in four key areas:
Knowledge, Understanding, Acceptance and Behavior. An effective way for
making a difference in backgrounds and beliefs an asset, not a liability.

There are several others but these are the ones I believe relevant to your
needs. Let me know if you are interested in further information.

    Dear Barry,

The best way to try out teamworking ability may well be to make a number
of participants represents executive teams in a well-rounded management
game. See, for a highly suitable exercise info about the Internatl. Operatns
Simulation (INTOPIA), with Home Page address below. Best, hans t
