It is beyond me that someone could use the most unprofessional and
unacceptable medium
of a personal public attack on a fellow member of the Management
Education and
Development Discussion Group to accuse SOMEONE ELSE of being
unprofessional and sending
unacceptable postings. Collegiality? I--currently with collaboration
of Dr. Kathleen
Powers--am running the list. I have just returned from five months in
Lithuania and now
hope to be somewhat more hands-on in list management. I don't intend to
'moderate' if
that means to screen each posting before they appear. As the name of
the group might
suggest this discussion list is for both those involved in management
education and
those involved in management training in corporate contexts. As an
officer of the
Academy of Management's Management Education and Development Division I
can assure you
that we welcome those working outside of academe--though we sometimes
wonder what to
call them (management professionals? practitioners?). I concur with
the Pat Gantt's
comments about the value of Dutch's comments. Dutch is most a most
valued and welcome
member of MG-ED-DV. The same cannot be said of anyone who will post ad
hominen attacks
on this list. Certainly the level of discourse of MG-ED-DV--as that of
all academic and
intelligent forums--does not tolerate such public ad hominem
dispargement of other
members. I have blocked out the postings of those using the list for
inappropriate
purposes in the past and will continue to do so.
