security ", that is , how to evaluate it, and how to actualize.,etc.

Or who can tell me how to search such topics in the Internet.

    Thanks anyway.

We are in the process of developing a new required MBA Managment Skills
    course.
We need your help. If you teach anything like this, we would appreciate a
copy of your syllabus, or ideas of sources for materials.

In our early thinking, we envision modules covering: Team building,
assessment center, negotiation and conflict resolution, decision making,
leadership, written and oral communications, career planning, ethics.

We think this course would use variety of pedagogies, e.g., outward bound
like exercises for team building; in basket, leaderless group, self
    assessment, etc.

We would appreciate feedback on topics to cover, pedagogies, sources. You
    may reach me at:

    Dr. Boal,

I've developed an Intranet based system that trains and supports managers
in staffing and selection. My demonstration Web site has been successfully
used at Temple to help I/O Psy. students studying the subject. For this
purpose I included a virtual guest lecture at the site. We will be doing
this again in February. This is an efficient way to link students with

    Dear Dr Boal,
Why not take a look at the International Operations Simulation, Home Page
below. It does seem to meet most of the rquirements you have in mind. Of
course, it can be supplemented with lectures, other assignements, etc.

I am a third year doctoral student at the Stern School of Business-NYU.
I am helping our PhD program director collect information regarding the
training and preparation of doctoral students for teaching. I am
particularly interested in collecting "course" (i.e., minicourses,
workshops, semester-length course) outlines that pertain to the
preparation of doctoral students for teaching. Electronic versions would
be most welcome, but any medium (fax, mail) would be appreciated. I am
also interested in relevant resources on the Internet, so web site URL's
would be helpful. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Corey:

One critical component or competency to consider is the whole area of
learning styles and teaching methods. I conduct a 2-day Trainer's
Certification for the State of PA and have included a 3 hour segment in
this area. Basically, I start out by having everyone
self-administer,score and interpret a "Personal Learning Insights
Profile" which reveals their personal learning preferences.

Essentially, the profile assesses how one prefers information/content to
be structured and how one prefers to be involved in the learning
process. It really strikes the importance for instructors to use a
variety of teaching methods in order to respond to the diverse learning
preferences of participants. It has been said .. "As I Learn, So I
    Teach".

Along with the Profile, there is a complete Facilitator's Kit that
provides everything you would need to conduct a class/seminar on
learning styles/teaching methods (including handouts, overheads).

I have a number of discounted "Sample Review" copies of the Learning
    Profile for the asking.

    Hi,
This question has nothing to do with management development and education but
I'm offering it to such an august gathering anyway.

Does anyone speak latin? If so I have a question. Can you contact me
    privately.

    Thanks

    Posted 10-21-2001 12:26
A colleague of mine has been asked to submit a four hour module on
    "Managing Third Parties."
He has asked me for some advice and help. The participants would all be
managers at the upper levels (i.e. managers, directors, and vps) of a
high tech company. Four project managers have responded to a needs
    assessment survey indicating the following:

    * Managing BOM's (bills of material) at two organizations
    * Managing companies with different cultures
    * Managing companies many miles and time zones away
    * How many inside resources does it take to manage outside resources
    * Best methods of communication both domestic and international
    (conf. calls, video, emails)
    * Material management
    * Identification and negotiation of areas of responsibility
    * Progress and milestone tracking
    * Getting the most from third-party-site meetings
    * If product is developed outside, how can you be sure it will meet
the same standards that the Companyl has?
    * What items are mandatory for the contract to include?
    * What items are mandatory for a statement of work to include?
    * What items are optional or suggested for either a contract or a
    statement of work
    * What exactly is a 3rd party and how does it similar to/different
    from other business relationships?
    * What type of business initiative or product lends itself to a 3rd
    party arrangement?
    * What are the pitfalls of having the wrong relationship/agreement
in place? Are there workarounds possible?
    * How can companies get into trouble on third party relationships.
    * How is managing an effort at a third party the same as managing a
team of Company employees and how is it different?

I'm hoping the members of the list can provide some help. Are there any
materials (texts, manuals, articles, videos, etc) that you can point me
to? Any web sites that may help? You can respond directly to me rather
than the entire list. I appreciate any help.
