ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY
The Department of Management, College of Business, ARIZONA STATE
UNIVERSITY invites applications and nominations for (2) tenure track
positions starting Fall 1998. One position will be filled at the rank of
Assistant, the second position is open rank.
Qualifications. Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in a
related field or have their dissertation near completion before hire. A
strong scholarly research record (or potential) as evidenced by publications
in premier journals of the field is required. Preference will be given to
candidates whose research and teaching interests are in the areas of
strategic management, strategy formulation, and implementation. Evidence of
teaching effectiveness and potential for teaching excellence in a growing
MBA program is important.
Preferred candidates will also be collegial and willing to
contribute to the development of the Department, College, and our multiple
stakeholders. Salary and summer support are competitive with other major
research universities.
Department of Management. The Department prides itself on its
research productivity and teaching excellence. Faculty members have been
awarded the 1993 and 1994 Awards for the Best Article of the Year in the
Academy of Management Journal, and publish frequently in other journals such
as Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Management
Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Journal of
Operations Management, and Administrative Science Quarterly. Faculty members
also serve on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy
of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Decision Sciences,
Journal of Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of
Vocational Behavior, and Strategic Management Journal. The Journal of High
Technology Management Research and the Journal of Quality Management are
published out of the department.
The Department plays an integral role in Undergraduate, Masters, and
Ph.D. programs. Faculty have won several teaching excellence awards in
recent years. Ph.D. students typically have one or more publications prior
to graduation and have co-authored several award winning Academy of
Management conference papers.
The faculty in Management represent the areas of Strategic
Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Operations Management,
and Decision Analysis. The tenure track faculty include Susan Amundson,

Brenenstuhl, Dan Brooks, Tom Callarman, Bob Cardy, Suzanne Cook, Kevin
