BDRM Conference Announcement, June 19-21, 1998
The Seventh Behavioral Decision Research in Management Conference will be
held June 19-21, 1998 at the University of Miami School of Business
Administration and Biltmore Luxury Hotel and Resort. The theme of the
conference is original research in decision making with application to
business including accounting, economics, finance, management, management
science, marketing, organization behavior, and strategy.
This conference continues the series of biannual meetings previously held at
Cornell, Texas, Chicago, Wharton, Berkeley, and MIT. This year s confirmed
invited speakers include Max Bazerman and Dick Thaler. Program committee
members include Colin Camerer, Chip Heath, Don Kleinmuntz, George
Loewenstein, Barbara Kahn, Itamar Simonson, Michal Strahilevitz, and Frank
Yates.
The conference hotel, the Biltmore Luxury Resort, is registered with the
federal government as a national historical landmark. The resort features
amazing Spanish architecture, a tennis center, a gorgeously landscaped 18
hole golf course, a state of the art gym, and the largest hotel swimming
pool in the continental United States!
Interested participants are invited to submit either individual abstracts
of 200 words or less or special session proposals. We especially encourage
the submission of special session proposals! Special session proposals
should be limited to 3-4 abstracts and 1-2 pages discussing the theme of the
special session. Ideally, special sessions should include either 3 papers
and a discussant, or 4 papers and no discussant. However, under special
circumstances, double sessions consisting of 5-7 papers can also be
arranged. Each submission should include the name, affiliation, department
name, address, telephone #, fax # and email address of each of the authors.
For papers that have multiple authors, please also underline the name of
the individual(s) who will actually be presenting the paper. For individual
abstracts you should also provide 3-6 key words that can be used to group
these abstracts into special sessions.
This year s conference will also include a poster session. Those interested
in presenting a poster should indicate this interest along with their
abstract(s).
The deadline for all submissions is January 2, 1998. Presenters will be
notified whether their abstracts have been selected by March 15, 1998.
