Leon Levitt <levitt@DHOL.com> has sent me an off-list email to me
which I understood him to suggest that we might invite well known
experts on topics of interest to our group as cyberguests in our
discussions. This is really a great idea that I would like to move on.
Let's plan to structure some of our discussions. I still invite
the kind of postings that we have had. But, now lets plan to
have a topic of the day or two or three days. I realize that
academics have very limited on campus schedules sometimes,
that consultants are off places for several days at time, and that we live
all over the planet in different time zones.
    Suggested actions:
    (1) let's discuss possibilities on Mg-Ed-Dv for doing exciting things.
    (2) let's suggest TOPICS for discussion on Mg-Ed-Dv.
    (3) let's suggest GREAT GUESTS to invite.
    (4) as list owner I would like to be consulted about prospective guests
to help advise and organize visits. This consultation can be done
over the list so we all can comment or privately--whatever you as an
individual prefer. One of my concerns is to stick to the focal topics
of the group management EDUCATION and DEVELOPMENT. Another
is to avoid having someone decide to self-promote themselves or
    some product as a "discussion".
    (5) I would welcome people after getting approval for a prospective
topic to "chair" the event. This will include contacting various
experts and determining when a good time might be. Weekends
seem to have low traffic so during the week generally might be
the best time. I could provide you with a letter acknowledging you
for the organizing and Chairing of the virtual conference. I write
great letters! I think that personnel committees etc. might be
convinced that holding a virtual conference on management
education and/or development might reflect many of the qualities
and skills desired by institutions nowadays.
Well, Mg-Ed-Dvers, lets hear what you think!

My original thinking is that, for many guests, it might seem onerous
to carry on for a week. However, I think your perspectives are
correct. As you suggest, a number of guests might come on
the first days and the discussion (with their invited but not required
ongoing participation) might continue till the end of the week.
It is my intention to start with the Copyright Issues in Management
Education and Development in the week of November 10th. This
will give us some time to invite outside guests etc. Again, please
send along your topic proposals. Any guest suggestions for
the Copyright Issues one would be appreciated too.
