I agree with Monty Brown's comment that people come out of their cocoons
(my phrasing, not his) on the net, and there is freer exchange. As I can
see from this and other lists that I am on, there is at least some
tangible benefit even for those of us who have "completed" our
"studies." One note though. The lists are usually like the far side
cartoon: suddenly Rexx and Tina were dog tired. There is an initial
flurry of activity and then it dies down. However, I would like some
inputs from
(a) anyone who had seen such experiments over a sustained period,
say a semester; it will be valuable if the net was used by this person
to interact and go beyond putting notes on the net.
(b) (anyone who had experienced or seen an experiment go awry.
