    Hi all.

I'd like to introduce myself and then make a request. And first of all,
apologies to anyone who is a member of more than one of the lists to which I
am posting and receives multiple copies.

I'm Kathleen Brown and I am in day 6 of a transition from 13 years as
manager of a large department in a major medical center to a 2 year
internship position as an organizational development specialist in the
division of development and training in human resources for the campus. The
campus consists of academic programs in medicine, nursing, pharmacy,
    denistry, and graduate programs.

My charge is to develop internal organizational development services and at
the same time develop an informational data base of external consultants to
better serve the institution's management staff and to facilitate the
process of referral to exteranl consultants as appropriate. The first task
is to assess the needs of the division of development and training and that
of the department of human resources. I have some resources to which to
turn to identify an appropriate assessment tool and am also asking for
resources from members of these lists. Are there particular tools that you
have found useful and/or particular sources on the internet that you would
    recommend I explore?

If others are interested, I am more than willing to summarize the
suggestions and post them to the lists.

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

    Hi,
I've been involved in similar fields for some years now but, before I
can offer suggestions, are you looking for assessment tools at the
training input end (ie, the training needs analysis end) or at the
output/outcome end (ie, the on-the-job assessment of competencies gained
from anywhere - be it training, past jobs, life, etc. etc.)?

My expertise is in the latter so if there is any way I can help please
    give me a yell.

    Regards

    Kathleen,

My firm uses several different needs assessment tools, most of which we have
developed. These include surveys, 360 and assessment centers.

If we can be of assistance to you, please let me know.
