    Hi,
I am assisting in the preparation of a major report and am asking for
help by way of information on regional assessment activities.

The report is aimed at providing an overview on what is happening, world
wide, in the field of workplace assessment at both national and industry
level. For example, many countries are adopting a competency-based
approach in both education and training and are supporting this with
assessment processes that determine how and how well certain skills and
knowledge are applied in the environment in which they are used
    (commonly called 'the workplace').

Could subscribers to this list assist by:
    a. Giving a brief overview of the vocational and education system
supported at a national level in their country (eg, in the US it is the
National Skills Standards Board, in the UK it is the National Council
for Vocational Qualifications, in Malaysia it is the Majlis Latihan
    Vokasional Kebangsaan etc.)
    b. Give a very brief synopsis of the assessment processes used - both
officially and unofficially - to determine the application of skills and
    knowledge in the workplace.

Your help would be appreciated and given due recognition.

Please email me direct on: robnphil@ozemail.com.au

    Thanks

    Hello, Phil

I am replying to your "help wanted" question from Germany.

Our vocational system is the backbone of our industry and there is
a Federal Institute dedicated to it. Their homepage is www.bibb.de
and I found information in English at
    http://www.bibb.de/info96uk.htm.

If you need more, I can contact them in German (unless you speak
    German as well ...).

    Hope this helps!

    Roland Spinola
