    Dear Colleagues,

    Apologies for cross-listings.....

I am in the process of preparing a class syllabus for an MBA level
international management course in the Spring. I have taught
international management several times at the undergrad level (the
syllabus is available on my home page), but this will be the first
    time at the grad level.

Does anyone have any suggestions for texts, formats, or Internet
resources? I was considering Bartlett and Ghoshal's _Transnational Mgt_
text. Has anyone employed this text and, if so, how did it work out
(e.g., were the cases useful to grad students)? I am also considering a
project (20-30 pages) in which students must manage/market a specific
product to a specific country. Any suggestions along this avenue would be
    helpful, too.

If anyone has a syllabus already developed for such a course, I would
appreciate a copy. Please mail/fax it to the address/number below.
Alternatively, if you have a syllabus posted on the Net, could you please
e-mail me the address? Please direct all inquiries to me
(f.lohrke@usm.edu) and I will post them here.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Best regards,

    Franz T. Lohrke

I have not taught international management course per se but I have used
the Bartleet and Goshal book for their cases. See if you can get their
older edition. There are a couple of cases that stand out and although
seem dated, are still relevant (knowing the region that I am living in).

The cases I suggest are: Corning Glass Works (Indonesia)- Excellent
stuff for kicking off joint ventures, and alliances discussion/ lecture.
KFC (Japan)- another excellent case on overseas subsidiary management,
    control and associated problems

Nike and Reebok- Human rights discussion will not stop in the class.
    IKEA- Excellent strategy case

These cases stand out and really work for me. So, I hope this helps.

    Rao,
Can you give me more details about the Bartleet and Goshal book (ie,
publisher etc.). It looks very relevant to the work I am gearing up to
be doing in the field of project management.

    Thanks

    PHIL
