A nice recognition for the hard working teachers would be for the
administrator to decline a pay increase until other things are taken care of
. . . .
Meanwhile back at reality:
There would seem to be very little that the formal organization can
do that will not seem second rate, given the full set of circumstances you
described. If you can swing it for a lunch or reception gathering of some
sort, I would suggest bringing back a fairly large sample of former students
who can talk about where they've gone since their time with those teachers,
all they have accomplished and how the foundation received from specific
individuals was a help to them in moving forward toward their goals. I
think the teachers would like getting an update on former students, and
being reminded that their work has had real impact on individual lives would
be meaningful recognition.
