Does anyone have data or a tool to help show how organizational development
efforts improve bottom line performance and how to measure them as such? In
my role as a consultant I will be asking organizations to spend dollars in
this area and want to help them justify the expenditure.
    Thank you

Perhaps it would work to have the client provide you with the
information by illiciting from him/her/them the outcomes they anticipate
from the work they want you to do and the dollar value that those
outcomes represent to the organization. If the client is having
difficulty giving you that information, perhaps your work should begin
by helping the client develop what they need to provide that
information. If the client participates in this way, then your fee is
justified in light of the savings/earnings the client has determined
he/she will have as a result of your work.

Check the book _Improving Performance_ by Rummler and Brache for the tool,
and check with the authors on data (Rummler-Brache Group in Warren, NJ, web
site www.rummler-brache.com). Their book is excellent and one that we use
as a basis for our education and training at all levels.

related to managing workplace conflict. Any list member who would like to

Look at Likerts research its old but god - or is that good? I am assuming that
by OD you mean a process of opening the system and empowering the folks within
it or something of that nature. It seems to change a bit with each new
dissertation or management theme of the month.

    Hi,

I have a number of tools that we have used very successfully for a
number of years now that can not only help with this but also show the
reverse (how performance effects OD interventions). The last time I
posted some of this material I got yelled at so if you're interested I
    could send it privately.
