Hi, my name is Andrew Smith. I subscribed to this list for for a brief
period last year, but things got extremely busy and I had to log off for
a few months. I thought it might be appropriate to introduce myself and
declare my areas of interest.
I live in Auckland "The City of Sails", New Zealand. Dr David Brock,
University of Auckland School of Business & Economics made me aware of
this listserve.
I am a developer of training programmes and more recently software
programs that seek to provide a more innovative approach to strategic,
business, marketing and project planning. This is my twelfth year of
working in this area or research, development, presentation, consulting
and coaching etc.
Fortunately and unfortunately, my business and hobby interests are much
the same. The topics that interest me are (in no particular order):
Methods of stimulating/facilitating creative/innovative/lateral thinking
Idea processing of any type
Understanding how the brain processes information
Better methods of brainstorming
Strategic thinking processes
Vision development processes
Strategy development and deployment processes
Conceptual thinking & conceptual development processes
Turning concepts into controllables
Reality based thinking
Subjective/Objective thinking
The Socratic Method
Creative Problem Solving
Translating complex/confusing issues into clear understandable
Communications
Discovery mechanisms
Getting people/teams to be fully accountable for results
How language affects thinking
Putting passion into business and organisations
"Object Orientated" thinking and reasoning processes
Processes that allow creative people to better communicate with
analytical people - and the opposite
Paradigm shifting processes
Values-driven business/organisation planning
Anything that makes business or project planning Simpler, Faster or
Better (more creative etc).
I would welcome a discussion on any of the above topics.
The proprietary business/project planning system I have developed is
called Accelerated Planning Technique(tm). It is my attempt to
Systematically address many of the issues mentioned in the above
interest list.
Its claim to fame is that it allows people to translate any conceptual
idea into a practical/controllable action plan (or evaluation plan) in
one day. It
also allows individuals (or teams) to create the essence of a complete
Business or strategic plan in one day. I don't want to make this an
advertisement, so if anyone has an interest in this item, I can email
you information directly upon request (
andrew@apt.co.nz).
I wish all on this list a much success throughout 1998.
