    Information Systems Faculty Position

    The Department of Information and Decision Sciences has openings for
    two faculty members in information systems. Applicants must have a
    doctorate in information systems or a related field with strong IS
    competence or assurance of receiving the doctorate before September
    15, 1998. Competence in information technology must be
    sufficient for teaching the core courses in information systems. The
    Department is looking for demonstrated research performance for
    tenured positions and outstanding research potential in those just
    receiving a doctorate. These are full-time, nine month positions
    beginning September 15, 1998.

    In filling the positions, the Department will be interviewing at two
    levels:

    1. Associate Professor (with tenure or on tenure track). The position
    requires outstanding performance as a researcher and excellent
    teaching performance in the field of information systems.

    2. Assistant Professor on tenure track. This position requires
    outstanding potential as a researcher and evidence of teaching
    ability.

    Preference in filling positions will be to those with an established
    record of research in information systems. Although candidates with
    excellent research in any of the broad areas within the domain of
    information systems will be considered, preference will be given to
    research interest, demonstrated research performance, and competence
    related to information technology in organizations, management of the
    information systems function, and information system development.

    The Carlson School of Management is located on the main campus of the
    University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It offers
    undergraduate, MBA, specialized Masters, and Ph.D. degrees. The
    Information and Decision Sciences Department has undergraduate, MBA,
    and Ph.D. concentrations and is generally ranked as one of the top
    departments in the information systems area. The Management
    Information Systems Research Center, supported by industry, provides
    an ongoing interaction with the professional information systems
    community and a basis for research in industry settings. The
    Management Information Systems Quarterly, published by the
    Research Center, has editorial direction from leading scholars in the
    field. It is ranked as one of the top journals in information
    systems.
