The US Department of Energy and the Westinghouse Electric Company of
CBS, Inc. announce the availability of the Instructor Development Needs
Analysis (IDNA) tool to US educational institutions, businesses,
government agencies, and non-profit organizations at no cost.
This paper-and-pencil instrument is designed to systematically identify
development needs of both educators (elementary through higher
education) and trainers (technical, HRD). The IDNA consists of a survey
containing over 100 core instructor tasks, a participant's guide sheet,
and an evaluator's guide sheet. This is a complete, turnkey package
which can be administered with no modification. IDNA employs a
streamlined version of the DIF (Difficulty-Importance-Frequency) job
analysis model. Areas covered include:
-- Instructional Planning and Needs Analysis
-- Instructional Design
-- Instructional Development
-- Instruction (using multiple approaches in various settings)
-- Classroom Management
-- Learner Evaluation
-- Course and Self Assessment
-- Teamwork
-- Problem Solving
-- Time Management
-- Instructional Hardware and Software Use
-- Administrative Tasks
Through our technology transfer program, you can obtain non-exclusive
intellectual property rights, allowing you and your organization to use
the tool for commercial, internal, educational, and research purposes.
To obtain the IDNA and non-exclusive intellectual property rights at no
cost, please review the application provided below, complete section III
and VII, and e-mail the ENTIRE application to ME (not to the list,
