COMPREHENSIVE HRM GRAD PROGRAM
The Human Resources Management graduate program at the New School for
Social Reseach is currently seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the most
comprehensive HR program of its kind in the United States.
Our M.S. in HRM is management-focused, with over two hundred motivated
students studying on both a part-time and full-time basis. The curriculum
and teaching methods are designed for adults currently in management or
consulting roles. Although the program is fairly specialized, particularly
when compared to an MBA, it also offers deep concentrations and
Post-Masters Certificates in Organization Development, Training &
Development, Career Planning and Development, and Compensation & Benefits.
A new concentration in International Human Resources is currently in
development stage and scheduled for roll-out next year.
Many courses are one evening each week at our campus in Manhattan on lower
Fifth Avenue and we provide an increasing number of courses on weekends,
Saturdays and in other formats. We hope to begin integrating the New
School's proprietary distance learning technology platform into the
curriculum soon to provide even greater flexibility for both students and
faculty.
Our immediate needs are for faculty in the following areas: HR Strategic
Planning, International HR, OD, T&D, and other functional areas within the
HR field.
BENEFITS
Our teaching fee is very competitive but our 30+ adjunct faculty teach
primarily for the intrinsic rewards. We provide a stimulating intellectual
environment that grows out of our history as the first (1919) university in
the United States to address the needs of intellectually curious adults.
Adjunct faculty play a central role in program strategy and may choose to
become affiliated with The Leadership Center, a consulting and professional
development division of the Milano Graduate School of Management at the New
School. The Leadership Center offers opportunities for consulting and
training with client organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS
We seek subject matter experts who have deep experience in their specialty
areas and the ability to work comfortably with theory and practice in the
classroom. Significant teaching experience is not required, but a passion
to learn how to be a great teacher is. Relevant graduate degrees are
preferred but we are fully aware that subject matter experience and
motivation are often the best predictors of adjunct success.
