    Hello, everybody,

I am following the discussion about MBTI and DISC on this list -
    exercises, validity and so on.

I just wonder why nobody mentiones the Herrmann Brain
Dominance Instrument (HBDI)? It is validated, supported by
literature, exercises and workshops. Herrmann International of Lake
Lure, NC, has affiliates around the world (I happen to be one of them
    - in charge of the German and Italian version).

I think a lot of the negatives that I read about are avoided using the
HBDI. For example: If you understand the basic premises of the Model
you understand immediately your own profile when you look at the
graphic presentation, which comes with the scored results - no need to
    learn acronyms and their meaning.

Another great advantage is the ability to display group-results on one
sheet of paper, e.g. the distribution of the dominance profiles of the
    whole group.

The use of the MBTI and the HBDI is discussed in an article in
Harvard Business Review of July/August 1997 by Dorothy Leonard and
Susaan Straus: "Putting Your Companys Whole Brain to Work", which in
the meantime has also been published in Germany.

While I don't think there is "the one right instrument" I find the
HBDI one of the easiest to understand and use.

    Roland,

I heard (note: heard, not read) that Hermann's work had recently been
discredited as the medical folks have gotten more sophisticated with their
brain scans. I don't know the original source of this information. A
literature search on brain information has on my To-Do list for a while,
but it never makes it all the way to the top. Somebody on the list
probably knows more about this already. At one point, there was a fellow
who had done a lot of work linking Hermann's work to the MBTI.
